The Fly Foundation programs are centered on using basketball to engage players and equip them to be great student-athletes on the court, in their schools, and in their communities.
Basketball is our vehicle to build a genuine connection with student-athletes. That strong connection is then leveraged to teach key life-skills to help student-athletes find success on and off the court.
Along with championing success on and off the court, we also focus on partnering with former athletes who are now in career fields that keep them connected to sport. This gives our student-athletes exposure to exciting career paths that they may have be unaware of.
We currently have two core programs that help drive our mission for The Fly Foundation, Fly U and Beyond The Game Academy.
OUR PROGRAMS
Fly U is a year-round before school program designed to help students improve their basketball skills, health & fitness, school attendance and school engagement.
Beyond The Game Academy is our program for student-athletes designed to introduce basketball skills, life-skills, and wellness habits to help players succeed on and off the court.
FLY U
FLY U is a before-school basketball-based program that engages students from under-resourced communities through structured physical activity, mentorship, and career exploration. FLY U starts students' days with teamwork, goal setting, and inspiration.

FLY U PILLARS
EMPOWERMENT
Fly U helps students develop their basketball skills and improve their athleticism. There is a laser focus on consistent training and living a healthy “athlete” lifestyle.
Fly U creates a before-school program that kids want to come to. When students come to school early for our program, they stay at school and their attendant and engagement in school increases.
ATTENDANCE
EDUCATION
Fly U consistently connects sports with education…making sure there is always a strong connection between the Student and the Athlete. One effective way we do this is thru our Fly U Progress Reports.
EXPOSURE
A key component of Fly U is inviting in former athletes who are now business professionals, working in a career in the sporting industry. Success leaves clues, so we help them discover those clues.
FLY U GOALS
Based on the successful results of our Fly U program in the first two years, we are confident in our ability to achieve the following goals:
Serve 50+ students over 53 sessions during the school year
Increase school attendance by 90%
Engage 100% of participants in career field trips and guest speaker events
Provide access to healthy snacks, leadership activities, and positive mentors

Beyond The Game Academy is an intensive program intended to use basketball as a platform to bring together youth from different communities and teach critical basketball and life skills to help players be successful on and off the court.
This program is typically a 1-2 day immersive program that can be catered to specific teams, groups, or community organizations, and can vary based on skill level and desired outcomes.

BEYOND THE GAME PILLARS
ON-THE-COURT
SKILLS TRAINING
Through structured drills, and high-level coaching, athletes build proficiency in ball handling, shooting, footwork, and defense. We train to translate skills into game-day performance.
Our age-appropriate strength, agility, and conditioning programs help players move better and recover faster. Every training is designed to improve athleticism, injury prevention, and on-court impact.
FITNESS TRAINING
OFF-THE-COURT
HEALTHY HABITS
We educate athletes on smart eating, hydration, sleep, and recovery habits that support performance and long-term health. Great athletes don’t just train, they also focus on nourishing their bodies.
LIFE SKILLS
Basketball is the tool. Life is the focus. Our workshops, discussions, and challenges help build an athlete’s confidence, discipline, communication, and purpose. Prepare for the game, and life beyond it.
